Finding the Right WordPress Pages Ordering Plugin

Running a WordPress Based website produces a Lot of Pages.

But WordPress does not allow you to assign Pages to Categories, But this might be a great function to reduce the number of Links in your Page Menu.

So currently I am looking at the new Plugins from Andy Staines who creates some great Plugins like the "Page Category Plus"
Once I figured out how to use it, you will find the examples and Configuration and Usage Instructions on the Pages..

 

 

Building a Website with WordPress as Content Management System

I am setting this website up as an example on how to use WordPress as a Content Managment System, and will be posting about the things I find and work with.

The Site will have three Silos to work with:

WordPress Setup:
The Configuration settings to use WordPress as a Content Management System with a static Frontpage

WordPress Plugins:
An overview and Manuals on how to use the Plugins that complete the CMS part of WordPress and makes it easier to work with.
You will also get some tips on Plugins you can use to further Optimize your site for Search Engines.

WordPress Themes:
Some themes just work better for Building a Website with WordPress, you can read about them here with tips and trics how to use and improve them to suite your needs.

How to Build a Website with WordPress

This is not your average "Build a Blog with WordPress" website..

What I will try to do here is to show you how you can Build your own website based on WordPress.
That means that it is not going to be about Blogging…

No, You can read about Building a Static website which you can manage on-line.
You will not read here how to setup a WordPress installation, you can read the simple instructions on "How to Install WordPress" on the WordPress site itself, which is where you should get the latest version of the Free WordPress Software

WordPress Themes 

WordPress presentation is Build with Themes which makes it very easy to change your website if you want.
There are a lot of designs available on the Themes site of WordPress, all of them are Free to download and use.

But there are some websites that sell great Themes, however you always have to check template code yourself to get an understanding of how they work.
For a website as this one, we need to change some items in the templates.. 

You will see how to edit WordPress theme’s to to take out some of the features only used for Blogging..

What you need to understand is that ANY Theme can be used to create a Static WordPress website, but there is a difference between building a site this way and using a WordPress Magazine Style Theme.
Using a Theme like the latter is not the same because you will use Posts to fill your site with content instead of using Pages.

I will show you some tips on how to work with both type of Themes

WordPress Plugins

Plugins are extensions for the WordPress software that can help to overcome some limitations of the Blogging Software, or can extend the possibilities of this great Software.

And of course there are some Plugins you need to Optimize you website for Search Engines.

You will find the best WordPress Plugins to get you site up and running in no time, and getting Indexed in the Search Engines… or do you just want a website for your own?
In that case, learn how to install Xampp on you local PC and test run everything there…that will cost you nothing!

Well, talking about the costs of setting up a website with a content management system… that could cost thousands of dollars, or just you web-hosting and domain registration if you use WordPress.
But it will always cost you Time, even if you ask someone else to do it for you, you have tot tell him/her what you want!

And you want a website that is easy to setup and to maintain, Right? So lets get started.. 

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
